Who is Jesus?
To those who know Him... EVERYTHING!
When He walked the earth, Jesus taught the mysteries of God to the crowds, He healed the sick and in-firmed. In three years he developed a handful of men who would forever change history. His birth literally measures time. BC - before Christ and AD, which means Anno Domini "the year of the Lord" (the birth of Jesus.)
No one in all of history has ever impacted the world with the power and love that Jesus has.
The best part, is we get to know Him personally and He knows us personally, calls us by name. The Bible says that no one can come to the knowledge of God without the Holy Spirit drawing them to this knowledge of Jesus.
Now Jesus is at the right hand of the Father, essentially creating a strategy for how to ensure we have the best life God has for us. The Bible calls it interceding on our behalf.
For those who believe in Him, He has imparted His Holy Spirit to live within them. This is the power of the resurrection living inside of every believer. The Holy Spirit guides and empowers us to overcome the temptations of life, ensuring we can walk in the fullness of what God's purpose for our lives.
The Holy Spirit, is the Spirit of Jesus given to those who believe.
See Jesus never wants to be separated from those who have chosen to love Him. In the Bible we are called His Bride. The Church, those who believe are His Bride...
His invitation to believe in Him is extended to every person... His desire is to love you... His promise is eternal life, true enlightenment of the mysteries of God, fullness of Joy and abundance of life...
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
The Roman Road lays out God's plan to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ. If you desire a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, read through these versus to start your walk of knowledge. If you have questions or want to talk with someone about Jesus contact us here.
Will being a 'good person' get me to heaven?
Romans 3:23 NKJV – for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:10 NKJV – As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;
Romans 5:12 NKJV – Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned–
By God's divine plan He ensured our salvation was not based on us. See God is Holy and perfect in all of His ways. Light and Darkness cannot abide in the same place. We needed a bridge to a Holy God, otherwise even with our best intentions or attempts at goodness would still keep us separated from his Holy perfection. This is where Jesus came in. He took on flesh and bore the sins of the world (including my sins, and your sins) in his death, thus creating our bridge, now when we accept him as our Savior, through his sacrifice, death and resurrection, we are covered with His Holiness that gives us RIGHTS to commune with a Holy God.
Is SIN really a big deal, after all no one is perfect...
Romans 6:23 NKJV – For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Sin is simply this: desiring and acting on what is less than God's best for you. So is it a big deal, absolutely. Sin does two things:
- It separates you from God's best for you. Therefor separating you from God.
- It always leads to death, maybe not physical death, but emotional, spiritual, mental, relational, etc... there is never a time sin enters your life that something does not die.
That being said, no one is perfect except from Jesus, so that is why we need him to help us walk in the fullness of God's best for us and overcome the temptations of sin. As they can look good in the moment, but will eventually only lead to death. And sin without the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior will lead to an eternal death and separation from God. Otherwise known as Hell.
So here's the thing, I am not really that good of a person. How can God love me?
Romans 5:8 NKJV – But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Ah, and this my friend is the best thing about God... His LOVE for us is not dependent on US! There is nothing you could do to make Him love you more or less than He does right now!
As you get to know Him you will appreciate that more and more. See, non of us are really all that good, we all have hurts, habits and hangups that keep us from experiencing God's fullness for our lives. BUT GOD! He still sent Jesus to be a Holy sacrifice for us, so that we could come into a relationship with Him. God doesn't need our goodness, or our perfection, He just desires that we would want to know Him and love Him as He has loved us.
HOW can I be SAVED?
Romans 10:9-10 NKJV – that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Salvation is simply this: a decision you make to believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that was sent by God to build that bridge so we could have a relationship with God. He did this with His life, death and resurrection.
See He lived a perfect and holy life, although He took on flesh and became man, he did not sin. He allowed Himself to be crucified knowing that with every piece of flesh that was being torn from Him was setting us free of the wage of sin on our lives. He died and in 3 days He came back to life and walked with his His disciples for 40 days.
I get the story seems a big far fetched, and this is why the BELIEF part is so important. God wants you to believe in His son Jesus, and that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and that there is no other way to God but through Him. It is required that you believe that to be saved. When you do, then confess with your mouth, simply say "I believe in Jesus" then ask Him to forgive you of your sins, after all he already paid the price for them, simply say "Please forgive me for all the times I have not done what is God's best for me and I have sin against His perfect plan for my life".
If you are serious about the decision you just made find a church this Sunday and let someone know you have accept Jesus as your savior and would to know what you need to do to find out more about Him. Of course, if you are in the Arab, Al area we would love to connect with you at Liberty.
How can I be sure I am saved?
Romans 10:13 NKJV – For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
The bible says it is impossible to please God without Faith. The confirmation of your salvation will come on many levels. God is faithful to reveal Himself to His children, until you see, hear or feel that confirmation I encourage you to walk in the faith of knowing that He is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do. If you call upon the name of the Lord you SHALL BE SAVED!
What do I do next?
Romans 10:17 NKJV – So then faith [comes] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
This is important. There is a lot about knowing God that you simply don't know yet (and there is a lot about God we may never know 🙂 So it is our belief that the best way to get to know God is to surround ourselves with others who know Him. We do this at Liberty through our Connection Track and Journey Classes. Please consider joining us to connect with other believers and take your first steps in learning more about Jesus.
